Shooting monsters. Rift Loopers Review

A mixture of Crimsonland and Vampire Survivors. There is a cooperative. Early access.

The game is announced for the Windows platform.

The gameplay is a twin-stick shooter in the form of arena battles.

At the beginning we have a starting hero and the most primitive weapon. Let’s use this fighter to farm for something more interesting.

Typical battles. There is one location (how to go to the next ones is not yet clear, but it seems they exist) — a small dilapidated town where monsters constantly appear.

Enemies begin to attack slowly, but quickly the attacks become very powerful. There are not so many types of opponents, but over time stronger ones arrive, and the number of attackers grows.

Mini-bosses come from time to time. They are several times fatter than a regular enemy; when they die, they leave a chest with loot: crystals and a temporary upgrade or several.

For killing monsters, you gain experience, which leads to a level increase within the race. At the same time, we receive temporary bonuses for our weapon, hero, or some active ability.

There is a table of the synergy of such skills and improvements within the level.

Sometimes special purple crystals drop from monsters (they are also in chests). It is advisable to collect the maximum number of them — this is a resource that is involved in global pumping.

For crystals you can open:

— New hero classes.

— Upgrade globally passive https://royalzee-casino.co.uk/bonus/ upgrades.

— New skins for heroes.

There are currently six character classes. Initially there are one and two open for purchase for crystals. The heroes have completely different playstyles.

Each class has a special active skill and equippable weapon options available only to it, which are also purchased for crystals. The guns of the new grades are much more powerful than the starting ones, so you should buy them as early as possible. There are two or three weapons per class.

Crystals can be used to make passive upgrades for all heroes, much like what is done in Vampire Survivors.

GALLOP THROUGH EUROPE

There is another type of resource — skulls. I haven’t figured out where to put them yet, but they accumulate steadily after the races.

In order to unlock some character classes, weapons and passives, crystals alone are not enough — you also need to fulfill the difficult conditions of the challenges.

Early Access roadmap available.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize:

+ Simple but nice graphics.

+ Good music and sound.

+ Good systems for developing heroes within the level and global. This is where the weapons come in.

+ Dynamic, competitive battles with monsters.

+ There is co-op for up to three people or you can play alone.

THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND A MINUS:

± The game unobtrusively encourages co-op. Class synergies and the ability to recharge in turns are enticing. It’s not very easy to beat in single player mode.

— The monotony of one location. There may be others, but it is much more likely that they are in development and just shown in the trailer.

— No Russian language text. The required level of knowledge of English is low; descriptions of weapons and upgrade options will have to be translated.

CONCLUSIONS OBJECTIVE

An arena shooter with a good amount of content (fighter classes, weapon options, global leveling, development within missions, challenges to unlock all sorts of different things). It’s a little upsetting that I have to play in one location (maybe I’m just stupid and don’t understand how to go to another). The project is in early access.

CONCLUSIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE

It seemed like the game was designed for co-op. If you win alone, then each class of fighters has serious disadvantages that prevent serious advancement. For example, a medic can heal almost endlessly, but he has little damage from a shot, so he gets killed, a soldier with a rifle has excellent damage, but he can’t constantly heal, and so on. But if you imagine that they are working as a team, then an interesting combat system emerges.

The game is in early access, but there is not enough content. While you unlock all the operatives, while you buy weapons for them, while you level up — it takes a lot of time. Taking into account the reputation of the developer (two little-known but good games Dungeons of Edera and Hold The Fort have been released), I personally am inclined to believe that early access will end successfully.

PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
